Great Company

Danny and Hannah came along to my parents house to have a nice home cooked meal with me tonight. My parents delicious pasta to be exact. Also, I can't forget about my sister's amazing monkey break. Mmm scrumptious!
Sometimes it's just so nice to get away from campus and return home, even if it just for the evening. ESPECIALLY since it is christmas time, with the fire burning in the fire place and the smell of something always baking!
We enjoyed our time eating, conversing drinking bad coffee and finishing up homework. (oh and don't forget about making fun of alaina) Danny and Hannah you two mean so much to me. Thank you for being such amazing friends. I love you guys!

Happiest Place on Earth

Yup Disneyland. Even though you can not tell that's where this picture was taken. Here's my lovely sister and adorable nephew. In all the events going on in our lives we still make time to have a lil fun and meet up at the most magical place.

A great way to start December off right...

Today I’m going to put my biggest dream(s) down on my blog in the hopes that one day (soon) I’ll figure out how to make it come true. I believe it’s important to let a dream exist on its own. Be it in written form - or spoken. I’m planting this seed in the hopes that it will grow. Ok, Here goes….

I wish to live simply, to leave more of a mark on the people in my life and less of a mark on the planet that sustains us. And of course to ultimately live a life according to God's plan for me without trying to alter it in any way shape or form.

Scouts Honor.

James

2Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds,3because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.4Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.

By far one of my favorite books in the Bible is James.
A quick note to My God:
I love you with all I have to give. You've shown me a lot in just such short time. I continue to live in awe of you Lord. With out you I am nothing. NOTHING! I want to be something for YOU.

Sunday = No fun day (this sunday, that is)

So today I did a whole lot of nothin! Wanna know why? I'm sick...grrrr.
I literally laid in bed all day until now.
Here's what my day consisted of:
  • woke up around 10:30 (after not being able to sleep more than 20 min straight)
  • parents came to give me meds (yeah yeah I'm a baby)
  • parents stayed.
  • watched heroes
  • watched What a Girl Wants (amanda bynes you are ridiculously annoying, yet so entertaining)
  • watched Bride Wars (=])
  • FINALLY ate. Mmm delicious veggie soup!
  • Got up to walk around (without being dizzy)
Now I am downstairs watching a christmas movie with the roomie, while enjoying a nice warm cup of tea!

CODY UPDATE

Cody is my sister's nephew and I've mentioned before how he was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 9 and he is now almost 14 here's an update:

Dear Family and Friends,

More good news to share!!! Cody just started using his walker over the week end and is already making it his primary mode of getting around...except, of course if we are in a situation that requires long periods of time.

We started our day heading to the clinic for a doctor visit. In route we discussed whether to use his walker or wheelchair. He opted for the walker as he wanted to surprise the doctor. As we walked into the clinic, all the staff and nurses, were totally blown away as Cody came "strolling" into the front office. They all clapped and hurrahed.

He "stood" on the scales (this is a big deal because up until now, in order to get his weight, I had to weigh in first then pick him up and weigh in again - subtract my weight), he stood up against the wall to get his height, 1/4" shy of 5'. We then went into the assigned room to wait for the doctor. She knocked and opened the door...stood there, jaw dropped as she noted the missing wheelchair. Cody proudly announced that he is walking. She asked him to walk for her. He gladly obliged. She smiled from ear to ear as she watched him and said....."Wow Cody! Unbelievable! You are a miracle!!!!"

She also said that she was at a "tumor board" meeting earlier in the morning- these pow-wow shappen every other week with the radiologists, oncologists, therapists, neurologists, nutritionists and all the other "ists". She said that there were 3 radiologists discussing and debating Cody's last MRI...they could not all conclusively determine what that "new" something was on his spine, but it is likely not a tumor, they could agree that one of the tumors on his mid spine was gone!!! This is awesome news! We are so grateful to God for this and all of the other many miracles in this journey! He will have another MRI in December (every 2 months for awhile).

After the clinic we headed over to CHOC for physical therapy...Cody did awesome and again, everyone there also clapped and hurrahed. A couple of weeks ago we had run into one of the oncologists in the parking lot. I told him Cody was close to walking. He suggested that when he did start walking, to go up to the oncology floor to say hello to the nurses as they would love to see Cody's progress and it would make their day. So we did that today. We snuck up to the 3rd floor. The first nurse we ran into was one that had lost her own son to cancer and was particularly concerned for Cody. She was ecstatic. She took us over to the nurses station to show Cody off. They were all so happy to see him. Then Cody requested to see one doctor in particular, but she was in a meeting. The nurses took us over to the meeting room anyway and opened the door for Cody to walk in. The doctor was so surprised and taken back, she was moved to tears. Cody was all smiles. She told him, "you not only made my day, you made my whole year!!" (She said this after she told him multiple times that he is a miracle.) Cody was the man of the hour and it truly energized him.

Had to share this day with you......just thinking about where we were vs. where we are has humbled us beyond words.
Thank you for praying, caring and hanging in there with us on this journey.

The Days

Please continue praying for The Day's. Cody is a true miracle!

so far so good

so so sooooooo good.

The fast is going amazing! I thought I would be hungry a lot in between meals, but I have more energy now then I've had since I was probably twelve!

A few of my good friends were curious about it and they want to join with me, so Tiffany and Kolin good luck to you two...you both are in my prayers!

Somewhere I want to go at the moment:

Sunday, November 1, 2009

welcome to November, my favorite month of the whole year!

I have begun fasting. yes. me...until thanksgiving to be exact.
It's call "a daniel's fast"
“In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks. I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.” Daniel 10:2, 3
I have been praying for things in my life to change and as I was speaking with a friend about it I remembered another girlfriend of mine that had wanted the same exact thing and she did this fast and God has worked in her life more than ever!
It's only day one and to be completely honest it really isn't that hard (yet) all I can eat are fruits, vegetables and nuts. My mom (bless her heart) as soon as I told her about it, an hour later she was at Costco buying me all the things she could think of that I could eat.
The most important thing about this fast is the prayer so please keep me in yours!

i'll be back to update you in a few days!

x0-Alaina
I think this is a great cause...check it out.

Sometimes I wish my life was a musical

I’m in Coffee Bean, waiting for my order and it is extremely crowded… The TV has a scrolling bar of E! News and there was just a story on Glee… This has inspired me to break into song…

Don’t stand ~ Don’t stand ~ Don’t stand so close to me!

Gabby and I are nerds. That's how I would explain us in one word. We get super silly when we are together, laugh at the most random things and you know what, I absolutely love it. God has truly blessed me by putting her in my life. She's a strong woman in her faith, school and has the biggest heart for her friends. I love you Gabba Gabba.

I don’t know what it is this year… but I am so excited about Christmas. Last year, I barely got my Christmas shopping done in time but this year… I can feel the holiday spirit sneaking up inside me already. Confession: I actually watched Mariah Carey’s “All I want for Christmas is You” video on youtube tonight. I know, I know… what the heck??

We don’t have room for a Christmas tree. Or even a fireplace to hang stockings. But I can’t wait to see this city decorated in lights and red bows. I can’t wait to go to the tree lighting and our neighborhood celebrations. I can’t wait to eat way too many candy canes. I can’t wait for Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer to come on tv. I can’t wait to go home and spend a good, long time with family.

Watching Where the Wild Things Are this weekend reminded me of my childhood when my daddy would read this book to me in my room before I went to bed. We would go on many adventures along with the book. One of many great memories with my daddy!

Dear Blog,

Oh how I have missed you! Let's see where to start...

I've had a lot going on this past week starting last Saturday: my computer completely crashed. yup donzo with my PC and now I am a MAC owner and absolutely love it! I have yet to fully understand all its lil tricks, but am learning every day with the help of my lovely friends.

Next up Sunday: A bunch of us went to the Newport Beach to just relax from the week of school. I spent a lot of the time in the water, which you can imagine made me super sleepy Sunday night!

Monday-Thursday: I had classes including on Friday, but my parents came to have lunch with me and that was just peachy. I do miss them and they only live 15 minutes away! Silly me.
That night I finally got to hang out with Nick for longer than 20 min or other than doing homework together, which of course is always a cherished.

Now: I am relaxing at my parents home before me and Becky go to Knotts Scary Farm tonight with her co-workers.

Farmers Market: Riverside

So this morning I woke up bright and early to go to the downtown riverside farmers market.Oh boy was it an adventure getting there. Gabby, Hannah, Jenny and I decided to take advantage of the public transportation that we can take for free by being a student at CBU. Well we knew where we had to go, but did not know what stop to get off on and we found this out once we were already on the bus. Silly us. Luckily we hadn't passed it yet and got off and only had to find a bank for quick cash.

We had such an amazing time and realized Saturday mornings shouldn't be wasted away, instead we want to start exploring. So that's exactly what we are going to start doing!

Look at these beautiful flowers we purchased:

I also got fresh strawberry's, but didn't get a chance to take a picture of them. You can bet I'm going to make something delicious with them, because yes I am learning how to cook and I have been a few nights a week!

Saturday, September 12, 2009

First few days...

here at CBU have been amazing!! I've seriously never been so happy at a school. It's funny how God still surprises me with lil things that blow my mind away!
So far my Global Studies class is my favorite, I got so excited and pumped that I text my daddy to look something up which he though was pretty awesome...its a bit on the long side, but I totally recomend you watching it if you have time!

I will be having a surprise for you guys as well...not as thrilling as Gods, but still pretty sweet!

Rose Garen 21

Yup this is my half of the room! It's so exciting!! Right now I came back to my place to eat because I've been on the go! It's hectic! Everyone is so nice and I absolutely love it!!
I'll keep you updated!!

Venice/Santa Monica

More so Santa Monica and Malibu haha
Tamara and I decided to take a lil adventure yesterday down to Venice Beach. We should we were in Venice but the truth was we were in Santa Monica. While there I was pummeled by a flippin boulder in the ocean and now my shin is swollen and the bruise has turned green. YUCK!
After being there for a good hour or so we decided to meet up with her friends. Let's just say it was an adventure just getting there. Once we were there it was a complete different adventure. We were just happy to be young (me not her ;) and alive!
The drive home was full of making fun of our day.
All in all I can tell this year with her is going to be so much fun!!!

I've been MIA

due to my computer have 47 threats!!
Ridiculous right? I had no idea how it happened until Nick was over here for 2 hours trying to fix it! Turns out I had deleted my anti-virus and whoops didn't know you needed that ;)
Anyways...OH how I've missed you my lil blog!
Here's the short version of my past week:
  • I came home from Vegas
  • Home for a day
  • Left for San Diego
  • Best Friend time in the hotel
  • Warped Tour
  • Came home from San Diego
  • SLEPT!
  • Came Monday I decided to look for a job.
So I'm sorry to say, but it is not as hard to get a job as everyone works it up to be. It's all about timing. Say I've been to 10 places...I've gotten 9 interviews. So I have interviews all this week which I'm stoked about! Finally getting back into the game!
Wish me luck with them!

Wednesday, August 19, 2009

Let there be light!

Just so happens the day I come home from Vegas the power in half of Norco is out due to Edison. Thanks Edison!!!
But FINALLY it's back on!
So I had a lot of fun on our lil mini vacation. Tons of relaxing by the pool! (which was beautiful, had a nice HUGE lazy river and let me tell you how lazy I was...super LAZY, that I fell asleep in the water. whoopsie!)
Now I'm getting ready for my other mini vaca this weekend in San Diego!

Sunday, August 16, 2009

And we're off

To Las Vegas for half the week!
Be back Wednesday...try not to miss me too much ;)

Confession

I have been busy!! Here we go:

Wednesday: I helped the beautiful Alyssa T-bo move back to school down by the beach. I learned something hilarious about me, well I kinda already knew it, but it really showed...I LOVE to organize. Like woah. It's an obsession. I unpacked most her boxes and she just watched as I went to work and I enjoyed every minute of it! I'm gonna have a field day when I get to unpack my entire apartment (which I only have 20 days left.)
I ended up spending the night there due to buying coffee at 11 pm and staying up till 5am talking with her and reminding ourselves of old times! It's always a pleasure to spend time with an old friend.
Thursday: Tamara (my adorable roomie), her mom received free tickets to Laguna's Sawdust Festivalwhich in fact I was dying to go to since I hadn't been in a good 4 years! Its so amazing to me, art that is. I love talking and hearing every single artist story behind a painting or piece of jewelry. My favorite there was a mixed media tree of life, I wish I had a picture of it!
After, I took her to my secret spot in Laguna Beach where we had fun taking and getting pictures taken of us by this sweet woman!
Friday: I went with Kelsea to her Step Ahead event at CBU (which she is attending with me in the fall) I absolutely love my school! Everything and everyone is beautiful there! The downside of the trip was she registered really late so she got stuck with a bogus schedule for the first semester.
I cheered her up by taking her to the worlds largest Forever 21. Yes and I do mean the actual LARGEST Forever 21. Three stories to be exact. It is the one where Nick works out (really weird having him there in my favorite store while I have 3 shopping bags full of clothes.) I did way too much damage! But on the bright side of the shopping spree I bought what I am wearing to Warped tour (Alyssa I know you were worried about it)
And now I just got back from a lovely dinner out with the family and I am waiting for Nick to come over so we can go hang out with B.A.N.D (Becky. Alaina. Nick. Daniel)
How was your week?
